Joining the Prince Albert Giving Circle

Be part of changing someone’s life

OUR VISION
By 2025 our ambition is to have at least 40 Prince Albert Scholars at Wellington at any one time.

Funding Required and Income Streams

At today’s fee level (2020/21) and including the additional 10% that we add into the funding of the Scholarships to fund 40 Prince Albert students at £45k requires £1.8m per year.

Funding currently comes from a number of sources:
1. The Prince Albert Foundation Endowment Fund established in 2020 thanks to an historic act of philanthropy.
2. Wellington College International; annually we allocate income from our licence fee commercial arrangements from our growing number of international schools.
3. Wellington parents and Old Wellingtonians.

Giving Options

1. IN YEAR ‘PAY AS YOU GO’ GIVING OPTIONS
Long-term pledges, single gifts, donating termly, annually over 2 to 5 years

Making a Pledge of support to the Prince Albert bursary programme
Some families like to make a long-term pledge to the programme to support a student for a term, a year, for a 6th form place or for a full 5-year place. They then set out how much and when they would like to make their donations; some do it as a single gift, others set up a donation schedule that can be done monthly, termly or annually for a number of years. Most donors complete their donation schedule within 5 years.

2. DONATING TO THE PRINCE ALBERT FOUNDATION ENDOWMENT FUND
Currently the PAF Endowment stands at £5m and generates around £200,000 per year (based on a 4% average return on investment) for the scholarships.

We have an ambition to grow this fund over the next 5 years to £25m as part of our plans to fund 40 scholars at any one time. If we grow the PAF Endowment to £25m this will generate an annual income (based on a 4% return on investments) of £1m equating to 22 scholarships annually and in perpetuity.

Strategically the endowment provides the long term opportunity to create a significant and sustainable funding stream for the Prince Albert Scholarship programme.

Naming opportunities for endowed gifts and 2/5 year funding pledges
We are delighted to be able to provide naming opportunities for those Wellington families that are able to support an individual PAF student by either giving an endowed gift or making a 2 or 5-year pledge.

As part of this high-level giving programme we will make sure that you are regularly updated on the student’s progress (anonymised) and should you wish there are opportunities to provide mentoring and career support and guidance.

Whichever way you choose to support we are hugely grateful for helping us provide life-changing opportunities for more young people.

If you would like to find out more and to talk more about making a donation to the PAF programme please contact Murray Lindo, Head of the Wellington Community and Director of Development; msl@wellingtoncollege.org.uk

Many donors can also benefit from significant tax advantages whether as a UK tax-payer or from overseas (the College has an off-shore account in Jersey) as set out below.
